Environmental Health & Safety Manager - Ballaigues, Switzerland

As Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager, you'll align site level EHS policy and priorities with the strategy and mission of the company, as well as support site implementation of corporate EHS policies and standards. You'll also develop and support implementation of site-level EHS strategy, procedures, programs, processes and training to assure that EHS risks are recognized and controlled, as well as sustain full EHS regulatory compliance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage local EHS team and initiatives
  • Support the Corporate EHS program and direction
  • Conduct the annual update, communication and training associated with Life Safety procedures
  • Participate in EHS budget preparation and management
  • Effectively coach leaders and supervisors in a manner supportive of our EHS and overall company culture
  • Participate in, support, and improve the EHS Gemba processes    
  • Implement and support the site team to comply with corporate and site level EHS policies, standards, procedures and programs to identify and control EHS risks
  • Ensure the application of federal regulations on safety at work (MSST) and full compliance to all applicable regulatory requirements; enforce all safety standards, regarding technical installations, machines, and industrial processes
  • Establish and drive implementation of key performance objectives, professional development plans and skills assessments with direct reports
  • Lead, coach and empower direct reports to assure their success and increase their level of confidence, capability, and initiative

 Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in health & safety or equivalent level of demonstrated relevant experience
  • Tech IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) or equivalent certification would be a strong plus
  • 7+ years' experience in the field of HSE; 3-5+ years' experience managing people
  • Strong knowledge base regarding EHS regulatory and consensus standards (ISO14001, OSHAS (Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards), etc.)
  • Experience leading projects within cross functional teams in a matrix organization
  • Demonstrated success in change management, coaching and training
  • Proven ability to understand and manage complex situations and leverage limited resources to assure a successful outcome
  • Pragmatic approach coupled with excellent active listening skills to identify, analyze and solve issues
  • Excellent communication skills in French (native or C2) and English (C1) with the ability to effectively convince and motivate multiple stakeholders across all levels of the organization
