We are looking for a

Senior Scientist Mineralogy & Physical Analyses - Group Quality (m/w)

Job main responsibilities

  • Independent mineralogical analysis of different natural and processed minerals
  • Management and documentation of small to medium sized analytical projects including initiation of other relevant tests (e.g. chemical bulk analysis)
  • Subject matter expert for physical-mineralogical tests (XRD & Rietveld, light microscopy & SEM, TGA)
  • Subject matter expert for health and safety related mineralogical topics (e.g. RCS)
  • Support development and roll-out of groupwide standard methods, lab equipment and ISO compliant control procedures
  • Coordination, evaluation and documentation of global product data
  • Development and validation of new internal methods of analysis; training of lab personnel on test methods
  • Active networking with lab equipment suppliers
  • Development of training material and training execution for Omya employees (globally)
  • Direct involvement in quality management and R&D projects

Candidate profile requirements

  • Master or doctorate in petrology/mineralogy or material science
  • Knowledge of mineral based raw material compositions advantageous
  • Experience in XRD analysis of natural or processed material advantageous
  • Experience with analytical methods advantageous
  • Self-responsible and self-motivated personality
  • Efficient and solution-oriented work attitude
  • Communicative and collaborative personality
  • Willingness for global business travel between 10 ? 25 %
  • Fluent in English, German; other languages of advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of MS-Office tools
  • ISO and LIMS experience advantageous
