The Biozentrum of the University of Basel is one of the leading institutes worldwide for molecular and biomedical basic research and teaching. Research at the Biozentrum focuses on the areas of Cell Growth & Development, Infection Biology, Neurobiology, Structural Biology & Biophysics and Computational & Systems Biology. With its more than 500 employees, the Biozentrum is the largest department at the University of Basel's Faculty of Science.
The Mango group will be moving from Harvard University to the Biozentrum in Basel, Switzerland in 2018. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated technician to join the group. The first few months of this position will be spent at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA and will subsequently move to Basel. The position is funded for two years, with the possibility of renewal.
Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Technician
Your responsibilities We seek a skilled technician to use modern molecular approaches to study chromatin biology during development. This person will assist and train members of the lab in chromatin methods such as ChIP, FAIRE, proteomics, and he or she will also have a scientific project of their own.
Your profile Applicants should have a degree as a laboratory technician or a degree in molecular biology or related topics. Previous experience in biochemistry, chromatin analysis (FAIRE, ChIP, HiC, IP) and excellent technical skills are highly desirable. The role requires flexibility, good organizational and communication abilities, and a talent to multi-task. Enthusiasm and motivation for biological research are critical, and enjoyment in teaching others is a must. The primary language of the laboratory and the Biozentrum is English.
