The FIM is the worldwide governing body for motorcycle sport and the global advocate for motorcycling.  With some 50 World Championships owned by it and organised under its aegis, the FIM works for the benefit of the sport and all its stakeholders.


 


For the reinforcement of its Legal Department, the FIM is looking for a dedicated and team-oriented senior legal advisor. You will deal with specific legal affairs of the FIM under supervision of the FIM Legal Director, to whom you will report.

WE OFFER

Your tasks in this position may in particular include the following

General Legal Advice


Providing general legal advice support and assistance including legal opinions and legal research on various legal issues sporting disciplinary contract association governance risk management and contentious matters related to the day-to-day business of the Federation
Reviewing and amending specific FIM Regulations e.g. FIM Statutes By-Laws FIM Arbitration and Disciplinary Code FIM Codes and Sporting regulations
Reviewing and drafting various contracts e.g. Promoter Organiser Sponsorship Media Rights TV/Internet production broadcasting distribution and related licence agreements- Consultant Agency Agent License Products Certification Employment Work and Service Sale Merchandising Insurance agreements and other legal documents
Assisting in the registration of FIM Marks and other applicable intellectual property and in conducting any oppositions and/or litigation related to such Marks and property
Analysing and monitoring the insurance portfolio of the FIM e.g. FIM third party liability property property and delegates' insurance
Interfacing closely with and advising the FIM Administration staff in particular with the Coordinators and their related commissions on various legal queries arising out of their work and related to sporting and non-sporting matters
Providing prompt and concise legal advice and specific solutions-driven support to all FIM departments

Sports Law


Providing legal opinions supported by appropriate prior legal research on sports law matters and related proceedings i.e. sporting disciplinary and doping disputes
Providing support for the FIM Legal Director in relation to legal cases brought before the FIM disciplinary bodies the Court of Arbitration for Sport CAS Arbitration Tribunals or ordinary state courts
Acting possibly as ad hoc clerk for FIM disciplinary i.e. International Disciplinary Court CDI and the International Tribunal of Appeal TIA and arbitration bodies i.e. Arbitration and Advisory Tribunal TAC ] in sporting disciplinary doping and any contentious matters brought before such bodies
Providing general support and assistance with matters involving the International Judicial Commission CJI
Liaising and interfacing with external sports-related entities such as International Federations FIM Continental Unions National Motorcycling federations Global Association of International Sports Federations GAISF and the World Anti-Doping Agency


YOU OFFER


You hold a law degree Lic./Masters preferably in Swiss law and ideally a qualification as an attorney or equivalent bar exam . Experience in Swiss law practice is required. Specialisation in sports law and knowledge of the workings and operation of a sporting federation may be a plus
You have acquired at least five years of proven working experience in sports law and/or contract law ideally in a sporting federation or commercial law firm
You are capable of working autonomously and used to time pressure
You are self-motivated flexible pragmatic and precise
You are service- and solution-oriented and you deliver on time
You have strong analytical as well as good communication skills
Excellent command of both written and spoken FIM official languages English and French is essential. In particular excellent command of written English with proven drafting ability legal documents and correspondence is required
You have very good computer skills
You must be willing to work and travel occasionally on weekends in connection with FIM events
