For the European Headquarters, based in Winterthur (Switzerland), we are looking for a
NPI Manufacturing Engineer 100% m/f
This position is reporting to the NPI Leader EMEA, the successful candidate will be based in Winterthur. As successful candidate you will have responsibility for the introduction of new products into manufacturing per the Zimmer Biomet Stage Gate Process. The products will be primarily HIP implants and instruments, however, may also include some Knee components. In this position you will be working on Winterthur NPI projects, you may also be required to work on NPI projects for other EMEA locations from the Winterthur base. In addition, you may be required to travel to the launch locations to assist with the launch efforts where required.
Your main responsibilities:
Developping, tracking and execution of manufacturing NPI project plans, ensuring plans meet with R&D and commercial launch requirements (both first clinical use and full manufacturing launch), on time and within budget
Assist with the development of NPI budgets
Work with local manufacturing and planning to ensure that NPI activities are captured within the local S&OP process
Development of capacity plans, understanding constraints, developping capital plans where appropriate
Working with development to ensure that development requirements are met such as validation and verification sample requirements
Providing feedback to development in areas of design for manufacturing at an early stage in the transfer process
Developping process flows, machining and finishing strategy's. This should include cross functional feedback from local manufacturing operations and quality groups
Estimate costs to feed into business case approval
Ensure all NPI activities are documented per the relevant NPI quality system processes
Developping manufacturing instructions/operating procedures, executing necessary FAI’s (first article inspections), process capability studies, inspection plans, validations and PFMEA’s where necessary
Providing weekly project updates
Your qualifications and experience:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Medical Engineering
Previous experience in manufacturing of medical devices, ideally within orthopaedic joint replacement products
Experience in Medical Device Directive and design control procedures
Experience in CNC programming and/or general in Validations
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
English and German fluency is a must criteria
Successful candidates will be expected to travel to manufacturing locations as needed to help deliver the NPI projects on time and within budget.
