The Position


As “ Senior System Engineer ” you will be accountable  for the development of system architectures of new products focusing on customer needs, recurring and non-recurring costs, and safety standards. You will as well be responsible for system modeling and model maintenance incl. associated documentation.


 


The main responsibilities for this role are:


  • Development of system architecture for new products meeting customer needs and following IEC standard 61508 and equivalent best practices for functional safety of instrumented systems

  • Definition of requirements specification based on customer needs and budget constraints for all disciplines (hardware, software, and test)

  • Creation and maintenance of system models based on UML, SysML, and Matlab incl. associated documentation (design specifications, design implementation details, and version descriptions)

  • Definition of testing strategy and high level system testing for verification and validation of high level requirements in line with best design practices and IEC standard 61508

  • Coordination of product certifications with certifying bodies

  • Coordination of technical issues resolution involving various disciplines (hardware and software)

  • Technical reference on existing product documentation (requirements, implementation details, test reports, usage, field application feasibility, etc.)

 


Your Profile


  • Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Software Engineering or equivalent

  • Certification in functional safety is an asset

  • 8+ years of experience in hardware and/or embedded software design and development

  • Strong experience in the development of safety critical systems incl. track record

  • Proven knowledge in Matlab, OPM, UML, SysML, and different MBSE approaches

  • Proven knowledge in blackbox and system test methodologies

  • Working knowledge in quality management system

  • Knowledge in field communication protocols (MODBUS, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, PROFISAFE) is an asset

  • Knowledge in digital signal processing is an asset

  • Big picture oriented, concept-to-operations thinker, comfortable with change and uncertainty, multitasking, and team player

  • English proficiency is required, French and/or German spoken is an asset
