Product Support Engineer
In this position you are responsible for supporting operations, manufacturing, installation and field service in the overall attainment of ProBeam® equipment and operations and maintenance contract (O&M Contract) deliverables as provided by Varian Medical Systems for installed proton therapy equipment by providing technical and product support to field service engineers. You respond to situations where first-line and second-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software. You may be involved in installation and training for modifications and new product releases. You are influential in guiding and supervising the maintenance programs and activities as necessary to maintain the required safety, reliability and availability of the proton therapy medical device. You will oversee hardware and software enhancements or upgrades and work with suppliers to ensure compliance of service activities with the quality management system and interface with management, engineering and external suppliers to drive the continuous improvement and success of the operations and maintenance program.
Develop and manage all aspects of the product support program for the specified technology and subsystems including defining and implementing site install and maintenance processes, site spare parts/materials/tools/test equipment inventories, and site procedures in order to provide the highest level of service excellence
Develop a strong working knowledge of the ProBeam® system and lead emergency recovery operations as necessary to support advanced technical support and design engineers
Develop a maintenance plan for new products: this shall include work to be performed, frequency, resources needed (tools and personnel), maintenance instructions, ensuring the tools and parts needed are specified and documented
Establish, implement and maintain all processes necessary to ensure product support is in compliance with the quality management system
Maintain a high degree of professional knowledge and safety consciousness according to Varian Medical Systems guidelines in order to ensure the safest working conditions
Work with engineering to define spare parts and tool/test requirements for maintenance activities
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a related field
Experience with medical device service concentration or accelerator technology or equivalent.
Experience planning, performing and optimizing maintenance and operations
Experience performing service and maintenance in Quality and Regulatory Assurance environments
Fluency in English, written and verbal
Travel: approx. 35%
