The Position


 


As “Lead Optical Engineer” you will be accountable for the development of optical sensing systems from concept to engineering to production incl. system modelling, optoelectronic and optomechanical design, simulation, tests and coding. You will as well be responsible for all optical component selection, characterization, and testing techniques incl. laboratory optical systems set up and measurements.


 


The main responsibilities for this role are:


  • Design and test of interferometric sensing systems, taking into account stable and reliable high temperature optomechanical design for fiber optic pressure sensing systems and optoelectronics incl.  low noise detection techniques

  • Optical systems laboratory set up and measurements

  • Technical reference in specialty optical fibers, fiber optic components, optical coatings, and micro-optic components (collimators, micro-lens, mirrors, anti-reflection coating, etc.)

  • Technical reference in interferometry sensing and related processing techniques as well as in low noise detection techniques

  • Internal reference regarding laser safety, handling of optical components, fiber optics, etc.

  • Internal training on optical sensing

 


Your Profile


  • Engineering Degree, preferably Master or PhD, in Physics and/or Electrical Engineering, with specialization in optical sensing

  • 5+ years of experience in optical sensing systems and sensor applications with a strong knowledge in interferometry sensing and related processing techniques as well as in low noise detection techniques

  • Knowledge in low noise analogy electronics, especially laser power management and low noise current supply is an asset

  • Knowledge in mechanical sensor design for harsh environment is an asset

  • Hands-on laboratory background experience is required

  • Capacity in leading, planning, and executing development and testing of sensors incl. hardware and software debugging is required

  • Capacity in training technical teams and lead introduction of new technologies is an asset

  • Strong communication and presentation skills is an asset

  • English proficiency is required, French spoken is an asset
