Your mission

Within the Manufacturing support department and reporting to the Head of Manufacturing support group, the primary purpose of this role is to manage and support initiatives/programs as well as to lead task force/complex investigations related to specific manufacturing areas or processes. Another role is the promotion and deployment of a continuous improvement culture in alignment with the priorities of the production departments. The Manufacturing Support Assistant Manager also acts as a referral for Compliance topics/issues, manages external inspections and inquiries from the Authorities for the production departments. .

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote, participate and launch manufacturing process improvement and/or enhancement projects
  • Drive initiatives to ensure standardization and alignment across the different production departments
  • Lead cross-functional task forces and teams in case of complex situations
  • Manage complex investigations/change control
  • Act as a coach for colleagues within manufacturing support group
  • Manage compliance topics for the production department, including preparation for inspections, coordination with the production teams and follow up of actions related to observations, as well as health authorities inquiries
  • Participate in day-to-day operational support decisions, as needed
  • Deploy and drive metrics related to the manufacturing support group in collaboration with the other supervisors from the team
  • Provide reports on a regular basis to the Manufacturing leadership team and to the floor
  • Incorporate and ensure compliance of cGMP concepts (Good Manufacturing Practices) and standards as well as EHS (Employee Health & Safety) requirements
  • Act as back-up of the Manufacturing Support Supervisors and as deputy to the Head of Manufacturing support

 

 

Required Skills

  • Confirmed experience in manufacturing operations, associated processes and documentation
  • Ability to think, take initiatives, lead teams and act cross-functionally, interacting with EHS, QA, QC, engineering, project departments, etc...
  • Ability to work in a fast, dynamic and diverse business environment with a high emphasis on achieving results
  • Strong ability to supervise different types of activities, with appropriate prioritization to ensure deadlines are met in timely, costly and quality manner
  • Strong focus on customer service, standardization and continuous improvement

 

Personal qualities

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, self-motivated, structured, capable of analyzing complex situations through innovative thought and experience, solid decision-making skills
  • Ability to work well and develop relationships with all levels of internal management, with the team and with the partners within and outside of the production department
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, adapting style to the audience
  • Great team player prepared to work in and embrace a team-based culture and more specifically within the manufacturing teams directly on the production floor
  • Good coaching skills, positive mindset
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English and French, fluency is an asset

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree with a minimum 5-8 years of experience within a biotech/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment (Process Operations, Engineering or Quality)
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving and trouble-shooting
  • Demonstrated expertise in Quality/Compliance within an FDA regulated/GMP manufacturing field

 

Working Environment

 

  • While this is a day-time job, must be able to work on occasions in controlled environments (ISO 5, ISO 7 and ISO 8 environments; grade A, B and C) requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body
