As a valued partner for effective decision-making, project, and clinical study execution, the Strategy Portfolio & Clinical Operations Function (SP&CO) maximizes Pharma Research and Early Development's (pRED) portfolio value by enabling teams to progress projects efficiently & effectively, providing objective analysis and strategic context and by executing the clinical studies that bring medicine to patients

The Portfolio and Project Management (PPM) team's mission is to help achieve an optimum balance of risk vs. reward across the pRED portfolio.

This means focusing on how we can maximize R&D productivity by acting as a strategic consultant and partner to our Senior Leaders. Correspondingly, we support decision-making at project and portfolio level as projects progress from entry into portfolio to transition to the late stage organization for the pivotal phase.

Members of the PPM team have an in-depth understanding of research and development and combine this with a profound knowledge of the healthcare and pharmaceutical business.

Through our timely analysis and metrics, teams can use our expertise to ensure that decisions made help increase project PTS, decrease the cost of molecule development and minimize the cost of failure.

The Position

The position reports to the Head of Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) Portfolio Planning and Decision Analysis. You will work with governance committees and senior executives as well as project teams to optimize project plans and portfolio strategy by providing portfolio insight and analytics and developing portfolio strategies.

Your responsibilities include:
  • Taking the lead for portfolio analytics,

  • Providing teams with decision analysis and strategic support to ensure alignment with portfolio priorities and advise teams on internal governance processes

  • Handling the governance process, business management and meeting templates

  • Facilitating annual prioritization, goal setting, lifecycle and business planning processes

  • Preparing regular reports on progress of the portfolio and implications (incl. strategic context) and provide input to cross-portfolio reports

  • Being the point person for new methodologies that are developed for cross-DTA/cross-discovery phase decision-making

  • Supporting research teams for timely and smooth asset transition from research to early development

Who you are

You have an advanced degree in science/life sciences with a depth know-how in the early R&D phases of drug discovery and a deep understanding of the lead identification, optimization and evaluation process of molecules in a multidisciplinary environment and matrix organizations.

A MBA plus minimum 3-4 years of experience in consulting for/ in biotech, pharmaceuticals or a related field is a clear asset for this role.

Your proven strategic agility and strong understanding of R&D trends, strategy and markets, and drug development will help you in being successful and easily up to speed.

You bring an excellent communication , strategic and analytical thinking and a proven value as a thought partner to business leaders and project teams, specifically, framing and decision support for complex issues
