Database Specialist (m,f,d) - SQL/Powershell/Azure/BI 80-100% - Remote

Project: Our client in the energy sector is looking for an experienced Data Specialist (Ref: 924313KS). You will join a growing cloud platform team responsible for operating, supporting and continuously improving SQL Server solutions both on-premise and in Azure.

The role involves close collaboration with development, operations and business teams.

Tasks:

* Operate, manage and support Microsoft SQL Server environments (on-prem & Azure)
* Implement industry best practices and innovative database solution
* Proactively identify and resolve operational and performance issues
* Participate in testing, deployment and improvement of database solutions
* Monitor database performance using internal and external tools
* Lead and resolve database incidents to minimise business impact
* Implement alerting and preventative measures to reduce issues
* Document processes and share knowledge with Ops and Dev teams
* Cooperate with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues
* Provide guidance and mentorship on database topics across teams

Required Skills & Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
* 3-5+ years of experience as a DBA supporting production SQL Server environments
* Experience with on-prem to Azure cloud database migrations
* Familiarity with current and past versions of SQL Server
* Expertise with High Availability and DR (e.g. Always On / Availability Groups)
* Experience with SQL performance tuning and best practices
* Hands-on experience with monitoring full stack performance (network to DB)
* Knowledge of Microsoft BI tools: SSAS, SSRS, SSIS, Power BI
* Exposure to Azure PostgreSQL and automation tools like PowerShell / DBATools
* Understanding of DevOps and ITIL standards
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Independent, proactive and able to work under pressure
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
