Legal Counsel (100%) English - French

Founded on 14th April 1900 in Paris, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is the world governing body for cycling. Its mission is to develop and supervise cycling in all its forms and for everybody, as a competitive sport, as a healthy recreational activity and as a means of transport and having fun. Additionally, the UCI promotes a number of its own events, including the UCI Road World Championships, an iconic annual event, and a wide range of other UCI World Championships and World Cups across the various disciplines. It is based in Aigle, Switzerland, at the UCI World Cycling Centre.

To support its Legal Service, the UCI is looking for a:

Legal Counsel (100%) English - French

Main responsibilities:

  • Contract management: drafting and reviewing commercial contracts (sponsorship, media rights, licensing) and event-related contracts (hosting agreements, service providers)
  • Management of insurance programme: review of event-related insurances and management of claims
  • Management of UCI trademark protection programme (UCI logo and rainbow trademark)
  • Management of debt recovery procedures
  • Drafting, review and update of regulations applicable to the different disciplines of the UCI
  • Management of UCI and UCI WCC’s commercial registry publications
  • Legal research and drafting of various memos
  • Close collaboration with other departments of the UCI: advice on application of UCI Regulations and management of disputes involving stakeholders of cycling
  • Support to the Head of Legal and Compliance on various subjects.

Profile:

  • Holder of a law degree
  • Working experience as a legal counsel (2 years minimum)
  • Outstanding command of French and English, both written and spoken
  • Working experience in sports administration an asset
  • Ability to synthesise and analyse
  • Ability to communicate and share information effectively
  • Organised, thorough and able to work under pressure
  • Ability to set priorities and comply with deadlines
  • Keen sense of service and confidentiality
  • Team spirit
  • Good computer skills
  • Interest in cycling and sport in general
  • Holder of bar exam an asset.
