As part of our growth strategy, we are establishing a new purchasing organization with the aim of strengthening Bavarian Nordic's strategy and growth through first-class procurement of materials, equipment and services. To strengthen our new procurement capabilities, we are looking for a Purchaser for direct materials to join our team in Thörishaus, in the Bern region of Switzerland.

As a Purchaser for direct materials, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliable and cost-effective procurement of goods and services to support our operations. This role is hands-on and dynamic and it offers a unique opportunity to work cross-functionally, build supplier relationships and contribute to procurement excellence across multiple direct categories.

Your role

• Own the end?to?end operational procurement process for assigned direct material categories (e.g. raw materials, single?use items, packaging materials); manage the full requisition?to?purchase?order workflow in SAP/Dynamics

• Secure timely and reliable supply by maintaining accurate procurement data and proactively identifying and mitigating risks related to supply disruptions, quality issues and supplier performance

• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure procurement activities align with operational requirements and broader business objectives

• Drive the enhancement of automation and system capabilities by contributing to the evolution of digital tools and improvements in the current system landscape

• Ensure full compliance with applicable regulatory standards (GMP, FDA, EMA) as well as internal SOPs and quality requirements

• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost optimization, process efficiency and overall procurement performance

About you

• University degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field

• Proven experience in direct materials procurement within an industrial or manufacturing environment; experience in pharmaceutical or vaccine manufacturing and familiarity with GMP, FDA and EMA requirements is a plus

• Strong proficiency in ERP systems and procurement tools (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) combined with an affinity for automation and process optimization

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams

• Structured and detail-oriented working style with the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced environment

• Exposure to indirect procurement and/or supply chain planning is considered an advantage

• Fluency in German and English
