Your Role – Key Responsibilities:
As Business Development & Sales Manager Synthesis Pharma (f/m/d), you will be responsible for both the commercial management and strategic expansion of our Pharma Synthesis business in Switzerland. In this dual role, you will manage and grow existing customer relationships while identifying new business opportunities and expanding the portfolio – especially through new intermediates and fine chemicals. You will act as the local Product Manager for designated principals and serve as the key contact for internal International Product Managers (IPM). At least 60% of your time will be dedicated to customer engagement, driving growth and market development.
Your responsibilities include:
- Strategic and commercial development of the Synthesis business in Switzerland, with a strong focus on expanding the Intermediates segment.
- Identification of growth opportunities, new suppliers, and portfolio expansion strategies aligned with market needs.
- Full ownership of budget, strategic planning, and sales targets for the Swiss Synthesis portfolio.
- Acquisition and development of new customers and business opportunities.
- Building and maintaining long-term, trust-based relationships with key customers and principals.
- Leading commercial negotiations, including pricing and contract management in line with market dynamics and principal agreements.
- Local product management and promotion of strategic products and suppliers, in close collaboration with International Product Managers (IPM)
- Regular interaction with principals, including reviews, forecasting, and performance reporting.
- Market and competitor analysis; preparation of business reports for key stakeholders.
- Supporting the evaluation and onboarding of new principals.
- Representing IMCD at trade fairs, industry conferences, and networking events.

Your Profile – Skills & Qualifications:
We are seeking a commercially driven individual with a solid technical understanding and entrepreneurial mindset:
- Academic background in chemistry or chemical engineering, or alternatively a commercial qualification with relevant experience in chemical processes – ideally related to or within API production.
- Minimum 3-5 years of B2B sales experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
- Strong sales, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-starter with a strategic mindset and structured working style.
- Team-oriented and collaborative approach within international matrix structures.
- Proficient in MS Office and CRM systems (preferably Salesforce).
- Fluent in German and English; additional languages are an advantage.
