As part of our growth strategy, we are establishing a new purchasing organization with the aim of strengthening Bavarian Nordic's strategy and growth through first-class procurement of materials, equipment and services. To strengthen our new procurement capabilities, we are looking for a Purchaser for direct materials to join our team in Thörishaus, in the Bern region of Switzerland.
As a Purchaser for direct materials, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliable and cost-effective procurement of goods and services to support our operations. This role is hands-on and dynamic and it offers a unique opportunity to work cross-functionally, build supplier relationships and contribute to procurement excellence across multiple direct categories.
Your role
Own the end?to?end operational procurement process for assigned direct material categories (e.g. raw materials, single?use items, packaging materials); manage the full requisition?to?purchase?order workflow in SAP/Dynamics
Secure timely and reliable supply by maintaining accurate procurement data and proactively identifying and mitigating risks related to supply disruptions, quality issues and supplier performance
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure procurement activities align with operational requirements and broader business objectives
Drive the enhancement of automation and system capabilities by contributing to the evolution of digital tools and improvements in the current system landscape
Ensure full compliance with applicable regulatory standards (GMP, FDA, EMA) as well as internal SOPs and quality requirements
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost optimization, process efficiency and overall procurement performance
About you
University degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
Proven experience in direct materials procurement within an industrial or manufacturing environment; experience in pharmaceutical or vaccine manufacturing and familiarity with GMP, FDA and EMA requirements is a plus
Strong proficiency in ERP systems and procurement tools (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) combined with an affinity for automation and process optimization
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
Structured and detail-oriented working style with the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced environment
Exposure to indirect procurement and/or supply chain planning is considered an advantage
Fluency in German and English
