ROLE OVERVIEW

We invite a knowledgeable scientist experienced in Cell Culture to play a key role in the development of our Upstream processes/ cell culture processes aiming to produce monoclonal antibody and bi/multispecific antibodies.

In this role, the successful candidate will participate directly in the design, testing and transfer of the processes required to produce our New Biological Entities (NBE).

The Research Officer will also have the opportunity to work on new technologies and innovation in order to improve and optimize the processes. Agility, a solution-oriented mindset and organization skills are essentials to work in our exciting and challenging environment.

This role will typically consist of about 50% of lab activities at various scales (may vary depending on the needs).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop cell culture processes for new biologics in mammalian cells (CHO) using a disposable bioreactor platform (15mL to 250L).
  • Scale up upstream processes to manufacturing scale(s).
  • Report results as required and present scientific results to the USP team as well as to other stakeholders.
  • Actively maintain knowledge and exposure to current state-of-the art developments in the industry.
  • Active participation in general maintenance of laboratory (including equipment, stocks, etc…).
  • Participate in occasional weekend work to fulfill normal responsibilities.
  • Perform other relevant duties as required.

EDUCATION AND DESIRED EXPERIENCE

  • MSc of chemical engineering, biotechnology or related field or equivalent background/(industrial)experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in mammalian cell culture, ideally using bioreactors
  • Exposure to Quality by Design principles.
  • Exposure to statistical analysis.
  • Ability to work with flexibility in a changing and demanding environment.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal is a must have.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills
