Role Purpose Statement

The Tax Manager is a relevant role in Switzerland giving its business relevance within the Group and will support the Manager Tax Swiss HQ & Agri value chains in the development and delivery of the Europe tax strategy in line with the overall finance mission.

The post-holder will support the creation of a Swiss HQ Tax center of competence ensuring development of and adherence to the international tax developments and local country policies in order to maximize financial and tax control and minimize risk exposure, relevant given Swiss central role in the global agri value chains. The role will have frequent interaction with the other functions across EMEA as well as with the Global tax team based in US.

Main Accountabilities

The post-holder will be an integral part of the Bunge EMEA tax team but in day to day operations largely operates on projects or items independently, with the support and under the guidance of the Manager Tax Swiss HQ. The Manager Tax will be responsible for executing the daily tax affairs of the Swiss entities, incl. the compliance (direct / indirect tax) and reporting as well as support on the tax planning, transfer pricing and controversy. He/she will be involved and support on business and tax projects relevant for the country and region and give expert, timely and practical advice to help others make decisions and persuading others to take actions relative to complex matters.

Specific responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Support on providing high quality tax advice and insight on various business projects through active interactions with other functions within Bunge, support local implementation of group level taxation projects
  • Support the preparation of tax audit defense and representation of the Swiss entities in front of tax authorities
  • Support in the development of aligned controls and procedures to ensure Bunge operations are in line with tax laws and international development, but also to achieve efficiencies and standardization in approach
  • Execute the preparation of transfer pricing documentation for Bunge Swiss legal entities
  • Prepare tax compliance of Swiss entities (e.g., VAT, CIT, TPC, stamp duty / WHT forms)
  • Prepare tax reporting (monthly, quarterly and yearly), incl. ETR calculations for forecast & budget
  • Support in optimizing Bunge’s tax posture by generating tax savings and improving the tax cash flow and forecast
  • Monitor and communicate on law and fiscal regulation updates and developments

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

The post-holder must have a minimum of 4-7 years relevant tax experience within a BIG4 and/or industry in Switzerland and ability to refer to international and EU Tax Directives and regulations and local tax laws. Experience and capability is recommended to connect to and with reporting and compliance accomplishments.

Qualifications:

  • Swiss or EU citizen or valid work permit for Switzerland
  • French mother tongue required and fluent in English - Required for the interactions with the GVA/CH tax authorities, advisors, auditor and internal stakeholder
  • University degree in Economy/Law, Direct tax
  • Knowledge of taxation legislation (Swiss / EU)
  • Excellent verbal and written skills especially for official correspondence in English and French
  • Professional practice in multinational companies (US multinational is a preference) and/or leading international tax law firms
  • US Gaap and Swiss VAT knowledge and experience is a plus
  • Experience in the commodities industry is a plus
  • SAP knowledge is a plus
