Workload: 80% - 100%
Home Office: Ideally not more than 50%
Background
We are looking for a dedicated Junior Process Data Scientist to join our Drug Substance Manufacturing unit in Basel. You will focus on the core technical aspects of Multivariate Data Analysis (MVDA): developing, validating, and maintaining robust models that contribute to our quality assurance.
The perfect candidate has a solid background in MVDA and a high-level understanding of biopharma processes. This role is ideal for someone in the early stages of their career.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Model DevelopmentDesign and build MVDA models for Drug Substance manufacturing processes.
- Responsible for the end-to-end technical creation of the model structure.
- Data Pre-processing & CurationApply rigorous data modeling techniques.
- Ensure raw process data is correctly pre-processed to prevent false positive/false negative results.
- Validation & MaintenanceExecute formal validation protocols to demonstrate model suitability.
- Maintain the lifecycle of these models, ensuring accuracy over time as process baselines evolve.
Must Haves
- Ideally a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemometrics, Statistics, or Biotechnology. Alternatively, a Bachelor's or Master's degree combined with relevant work experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in statistics
- First professional/industry experiences
- English and German at B2/C1 level
Nice to Haves
- Familiarity with Open-DCP or similar modeling frameworks (e.g., SIMCA)
- Knowledge of R programming language for statistical computing
- Experience with Aveva PI System Explorer (OSIsoft) for data retrieval
